A word from Dave Kitt
Hello and welcome to KitCrew Camps! I’m Dave Kitt. Since 1998 my business has been building school holiday courses which offer a wide-range of activities to different types of children from a variety of age groups. With five courses running at all of our venues throughout school holidays, KitCrew can offer all children (from five-to-15yrs) a place in our Crew.
All my Crew Leaders design their own timetables to keep our children busy, happy and good. We’re certainly not an elitist crew and our courses are not particularly technical, nor skills-based. They’re aimed at children who want a fantastic week of fun activities. This is a business model that has been proven to work as 90% of our children return the following year.
KitCrew Camps specialise in week-long bookings with the aim to build a supportive environment which gently challenges children to try-out new things. We will encourage your child to socialise with a wide range of others, thereby building confidence and developing self-esteem. Over the course of a week, your child’s ‘group’ will become a ‘team’. As a Crew Member, hidden confidences are found – fantastic experiences are had – and great friendships are formed.
My career background is varied: I’ve been running my own business for the past 17 years. Previously I was a secondary school PE teacher and before that I was a Weapons Engineer in the Royal Navy. My University Masters Degree looks at the impact that Outdoor and Adventurous Activities plays upon a child’s self-esteem. I’d like to think I bring a bit of all my experiences to camp. We run a very ‘tight-ship’ which allows us to keep the children safely under control, meanwhile we give them the responsibility to try out new and exciting activities thereby developing new skills and gaining self-confidence.
