KitCrew Camps have been delivering Holiday Courses since 1996….that’s for over 20 YEARS!

Suffolk’s Number One Holiday Camp started out delivering multi-activity camps at Orwell Park Independent School in Nacton, Ipswich, under the name Orwell Park Activities for over 13 very successful years. Since then we have moved to Kesgrave High School under the name IP5Alive for three years and in 2013 changed our name to KitCrew Camps to signify the idea of having an association with a Crew. We have now expanded to two other venues in Suffolk, Felixstowe Academy and Ipswich High School for Girls, Woolvestone along with our first camp in Essex, Colchester County High School. Next year we will be seeking new venues to add to our current line-up, so watch this space!

Expansion, Awards, Grants & The Future

As an organisation that promotes child development and improving the well-being of children, we strive to expand year-on-year to continue to deliver our award-winning holiday camps to more and more children across the county, region and country. We seek to inherit more fantastic school facilities to make sure more communities have access to local and convenient KitCrew Camps.

To aid in the expansion we have worked closely with local councils, governing bodies and EU departments to apply and successfully receive grants to partly fund expansion plans.

These include:

New Anglia LEP Growing Business Fund

In 2014 when KitCrew Camps expanded from one to four venues, the New Anglia Growing Business Fund assisted with 20% funding towards our expansion project in exchange for the creation of two new full-time positions within the organisation. This has proved a great success and KitCrew Camps has become a case study for the success of this programme.

So much so again in 2016 we completed a second growth project with New Anglia small business grant, once again with them providing 20% of a growth project to expand to five venues and also purchase our fleet of box-van trailers thats enables KitCrew to provide school holiday camps throughout the year including half terms! This project also created a further full time position within the business, Operations Manager.

We would recommend this programme to any business looking to expand and wanting to employ more staff. Check out more info found here:

In 2015, in an attempt to lower KitCrew Camps’ carbon footprint and greatly improve the efficiency of the business for employees and customers who use our services, we undertook a project to develop a new logistics system and a bespoke custom built website for our customers to enjoy. This £8,000 project was 40% partly funded by this grant.
